MOC Sports and
Fox Road Make a Heck of a Team
Skills Combine a Complete Success!
November 22, 2008 - TAFFL PRESS (TP) -
MOC Sports, teamed with Fox Road Elementary School, would win
their second matchup with Mother Nature, to host the 2008 Fox Road
Football Skills Combine on November 22, 2208 at Millbrook Exchange
Park. The event, originally scheduled for November 8, had to be
cancelled after a steady morning rain and flooded field conditions, drew
safety concerns from Combine Officials. However, on this day, not even
cold and sometimes teeth-chattering gusts of wind would deter parents or
students from missing a second opportunity at the Skills Combine.
Officials deemed the event which took place under
sunny skies and to the tunes of the coach’s whistles a tremendous
success. Marcus Cole, MOC Sports President and Founder,
was extremely
excited with the turnout and enthusiasm the Fox Road students showed. “This
morning I was worried the cold would keep many families away, however I
could not have been more pleased with the number of participants that
did attend,” he stated. “School Counselor Sarah Barbour and her staff
are doing a superb job with these young people. If their enthusiasm and
desire to learn the skills our coaching staff had to offer is a
reflection of the learning going on at Fox Road, then hats off to the staff!”
Ms. Barbour, while searching for reward activity ideas on the
internet, discovered the MOC Sports website and noticed its previous
Football Skills Combine that took place in July. Sensing this would be
an excellent idea for her students she contacted the organization and
the MOC Sports’ Front Office was all for it. According to Cole, this
was the first time that the school had actually made the initial contact
regarding a Skills Combine. “We were extremely delighted when Ms.
Barbour contacted us,” he added. “Having an established
student-participant base to work with is a tremendous resource when
hosting this type of event. When she mentioned she had about 60 kids,
this was great news for my coaches and me.” Unfortunately, not all
sixty registered would show, however over thirty participants would take
advantage of the invaluable lessons learned and shared by all involved.
The MOC Sports Football Skills Combine was created as a
one-day camp for boys and girls designed to help participants gain a
complete understanding of the game from every position. During the time
participants spend with the MOC Sports’ coaches they are also gaining
valuable insight and learning lessons to help them succeed in life on
and off the football field. Each position is covered in depth and key
tips and strategies are shared by the coaches, who have excelled at
those respective positions throughout their football careers. The MOC
Sports' coaching staff offers over 30 years of football experience from
high school standout to former NFL pros. The instructional, yet
hands-on, view of the game as presented by the MOC Sports’ coaches is
unique and aids in the retention of the information being shared.
“These kids are really good and very coachable,” Coach Tim Dumas
mentioned during one group of drills. Coach Dumas is a wide receivers
coach who graduated from Lycoming College (Pennsylvania) as the school’s All-Time
leading receiver and a two-time All-American. Coach Dumas is part of a
coaching staff that includes, former New York Giant and Houston Texan
linebacker Quincy Monk, former University of North Carolina and Canadian
Football League
cornerback
Errol Hood, as well as former Duke defensive end standout Orlando
Adwaters.
At the conclusion of the coaching portion of the Skills
Combine, participants are able to apply the skills they have learned in
actual games of flag football with and against the coaches. Once the
games were over and winners declared, each youth is rewarded
with a certificate and a medal for their participation. MOC Sports and
TAFFL Youth look to host several Football Skill Combines in the next
calendar year and parents can visit the websites at
www.tafflyouth.com or
www.mocsports.com for more information on when and where the next
events will take place. TAFFL Youth flag football Season I starts in
April of 2009 and the League is currently accepting pre-registrations,
as players are currently being drafted to teams to begin practice in
February. |

Releases Partial 2009 Calendar of Events
MOC Sports looking to make 2009 the best year ever!
In its continuing mission to become
Raleigh’s largest and most popular athletic and social networking
provider, the MOC Sports organization, recently released a partial look
at its 2009 athletic and social event calendar.
The company, which was founded in 2003, in recent years
has seen phenomenal growth in its client athlete base as more and more
sports are added to its calendar. One of the major reasons behind the
growth the company has experienced of late has been its unique brand of
athletic sports leagues and tournaments. A quick look at the MOC
Sports’ network of websites, as well as reading an entire page dedicated
to testimonials from client athletes and one can easily figure out why
the company is becoming so popular.
“Best
rec league experience I've had here or back in NY, in any sport…”
“Overall it really did offer a realistic experience, and the website is
just the greatest thing since sliced bread."
“I just moved down here from Pennsylvania about 6 months ago and you
completely put all of their leagues to shame...”
"Felt like the start of an NFL season...it lived up to the hype!"
It appears
that MOC Sports is changing the way weekend athletes are looking at
their recreational sporting outlets. No other League in the area, or
the State from our research, offers players a more realistic experience
both on and off the field/court as the people at MOC Sports. Currently
offering adult male and coed flag football, as well as basketball,
visiting their respective websites provides players and fans hours of
entertainment. The Leagues prides themselves on offering the most
in-depth and realistic experience from the recreational level
imaginable. From complete statistical tracking for players, including
career totals, a definite first for the area, to weekly newsletters
packed with team-by-team analysis, game breakdowns, news, and more, it
is clear why any athlete looking for a little extra in their leagues
would choose MOC Sports. A graphically stunning, streamlined, and
easily navigable online experience completes the package.

Dazz Wins TAFFL COED Cup II
Defeat Royal Flush 25-21 as a Dynasty is Born
No team in the MOC Sports organization has garnered
as much success as that of team Dazz. After Sunday (11/23), Captain
David Wood would yet add another piece of hardware to his mantle, as
Dazz would win its first TAFFL Coed Flag Football Championship to help
solidify what the writers are calling a ‘modern day dynasty’.
Since becoming a part of the MOC Sports revolution in
February of 2007, when the team would make their first appearance in the
Pre-Season
Invitational I Flag Football Tournament, the team has been one of the
‘teams to beat’. A dismal first round performance would watch a 0-3
team, who only by points scored, would break a tie, to enter into the
single elimination portion of the tournament. It was here that Dazz
would turn things around and become the force they have been for so
long. They would ultimately lose in the Championship game to the
Dynasty of Lynchburg, Virginia, however it would not be the last
championship that Dazz would play for or win.
The team would later be convinced to participate in the
regular season of the Triangle Area Flag Football League and since their
inception, have played in two consecutive TAFFL Bowls in as many
seasons. Unfortunately, they have come up short in both finals, however
no other team, but the RDU Assault can claim the feat of playing in two
TAFFL Bowls. Dazz would also enter the Triangle Basketball
Association’s first season and after ten weeks of grueling basketball
action on the court, would be crowned the TBA’s first Champion by
defeating Ramses 56-53. Now, the only thing missing from the team’s
resume was a TAFFL Coed Championship berth or victory and both would be
fulfilled on this day.
Dazz playing in their first TAFFL Coed Cup after losing
to the Gobblers in the semifinals in Season I would face a Royal Flush
team, who were no strangers to the TAFFL Coed Cup, as they were defeated
by the Gobblers 32-20 in TAFFL Coed Cup I. The Royal Flush led by
Captain Marcus Cole would find themselves in a big hole early as Dazz
would score the first 19 points of the game. It looked as if the Flush
would have no answer for QB Jamal Seetram and the high-powered Dazz
offense, when with only one minute into the game, Seetram would lead the
team down the field and rush into the endzone for the quick 7-0 lead.
Four and a half minutes later after a stalled Flush offensive drive,
Seetram would connect with Jose Frias to put the team up 13-0. The
Flush would not respond on their next possession either and after
turning the ball over on downs, would watch James Booker and Seetram
hook-up for a short touchdown pass to increase the Dazz lead to 19. The
Flush would finally answer a Dazz touchdown with one of their own, when
QB Marcus Cole would connect with Chioke Ward with three minutes left in
the half. The teams would enter the halftime break with Dazz leading
19-8.
After the break, the Flush would find themselves right
back in the game and quickly, when with less than 2:00 expiring, Cole
would elude heavy pressure by Season II sack leader Marvis Brown, and after
taking off to scramble would throw back to Andre Berry who would take
the lateral the distance for the touchdown and get the Flush to within 4
points at 19-15. Five minutes later Dazz would answer to again increase their
lead to 10 points or more when Seetram would find Brown in the endzone at
25-15. Now sensing a battle had begun, Cole would come back and for the
second time find Chioke Ward to get to within four again, 25-21 with
just under twelve minutes to play. However, this would be the last time
that either team would find the endzone in the game.
Both teams would play shutout defense the remainder of
the game, yet the Flush would have one last opportunity to steal the
game away, when a great defensive effort would hold Dazz on four downs,
near the Flush endzone with less than a minute to play. But, Marvis
Brown would squash any Flush last minute hopes to win the game, as two
monstrous pass rushes would help him blow by the Flush offensive line
and sack Cole twice before he could even attempt a pass. With no
timeouts remaining, the clock would expire along with another chance for
Cole and the Royal Flush to become Champions.
Jamal Seetram was named the TAFFL Coed Cup II MVP, as
the QB would finish with 3 passing TDs, a Rushing TD, a Reception, 2
Defensive Interceptions, and 4 Tackles.
