COMBINE
"Those who attended today's event were rewarded with a tremendous gift. The high level of instruction and experience our coaches are offering is priceless," Cole would later say. "We appreciate those parents who were committed enough to bring their children to the Combine." The MOC Sports organization is currently working to add youth programs to its already existing sports league calendars and the group felt the Combine a good way to introduce themselves to parents and the community. Since 2003, the organization had focused mainly on adult male flag football in the area, but in recent years has seen a tremendous demand for its league style in other sports. In July, the organization finished up its first season of coed flag football in TAFFL Coed and most recently the Triangle Basketball Association (TBA) would start its inaugural season with the TBA Preseason Tip-Off Classic. The general consensus of most players is that with MOC Sports leagues the off the field experience is just as exciting and in-depth as the on the field experience. After a visit to their network of league websites, MOC Sports would appear to be in rare company, with regards to the amount of detail the leagues are built around. The TAFFL Youth Combine would come to an end with a medal and certificate of participation presentation and some participants were able to take more than just football from the event. In a gesture of appreciation, to go along with their medals and certificates, the parents and their children were also involved in a post event ticket drawing in which some winners walked away with Dick's Sporting Goods gift cards, portable coolers, football gloves, autographed footballs, and MP3 players. "If you knew about this event and didn't attend, you really missed out," Timothy Douthit, Sr. stated, as he and Timmy, Jr. walked towards their car at the conclusion of the 2008 TAFFL Youth Combine. |
